Wedding season is just around the corner, which means wedding fayres and open days are suddenly everywhere you look. And if you’re still in the thick of planning, that’s actually very good news. These kinds of events are one of the few chances you get to explore venues, meet suppliers and ask questions without feeling like you need to decide everything there and then. You can browse, chat, take it all in – and leave without committing to a thing.
On that note, Spitting Pig Yorkshire is really pleased to say that Chevin County Park Hotel is opening its doors once again for one of their much-loved open days. It’s happening on Sunday the 22nd of March, from 11am to 3pm, and if you’ve never been before, it’s well worth a visit.
Tucked away on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Chevin County Park Hotel feels like a proper escape. The whole place has a calm, alpine feel to it – all timber, trees and fresh air. It’s actually the UK’s largest log cabin hotel, with 16 hotel rooms, 28 cabins and four lodges, so there’s plenty of space for guests to stay over. Add in a lake and 32 acres of birch woodland and you’ve got a pretty amazing backdrop for wedding photos (even if it’s slightly overcast – this is Yorkshire, after all).
Spitting Pig Yorkshire is proud to be a partner caterer at Chevin County Park, which means we know the venue like the back of our hand and absolutely love working there. We always make a point of attending their open days, partly to meet couples… and partly because we get to cook. Yes, there will be hog roast samples.
Our catering manager, Jon, will be there on the day serving soft rolls filled with freshly cooked pulled pork, crunchy crackling, sage and onion stuffing and applesauce. So, if you want to see what we can do with a grill, this is your chance.

If you’ve never been to a venue open day before, don’t worry. Chevin’s are relaxed, friendly and easy-going. You can wander around at your own pace, chat to the team, meet a few trusted suppliers and imagine what your day could look like – no pressure attached.
It’s a lovely way to spend a Sunday, and Spitting Pig Yorkshire would genuinely love to see you there.
