Hog Roast Ripon Brings Culinary Magic To Winter Weddings!

Hog Roast RiponHere at Hog Roast Ripon, weddings are our speciality—and the arrival of winter doesn’t slow us down one bit! In fact, we’ve seen a rising trend in couples embracing winter weddings over the past few years. And why not? Off-peak celebrations come with great perks: more venue and vendor availability, lower costs, and a chance to create a one-of-a-kind experience infused with seasonal charm.

Take Amber and Mark’s wedding, for instance. We first met this delightful couple at a Yorkshire wedding fair, where our delicious menu stole their hearts (and taste buds). It was love at first bite! They booked us on the spot, and from that moment, our catering manager Jon worked closely with them to ensure their menu was tailored to perfection. Fast forward to this past Saturday, and their wedding turned out to be one for the books.

Amber and Mark’s rustic barn venue was transformed into a magical winter wonderland. Fairy lights twinkled across the wooden beams, while cosy fur throws draped over wooden benches invited guests to sit and soak in the warmth. The dining tables were adorned with seasonal touches—candles, red berry garlands, and acorns—creating an atmosphere that was both intimate and enchanting. Stepping away from tradition, the couple made a bold style statement in matching red velvet ensembles, perfectly complementing the festive mood of the day.

Hog Roast RiponOf course, the highlight for many was the feast, and we were thrilled to deliver! Following heartfelt toasts, the 120 guests couldn’t wait to dig into Hog Roast Ripon’s signature hog roast with sage and onion stuffing and applesauce. For plant-based guests, our BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls were a crowd-pleasing alternative. The meal was rounded out with a spread of fresh, vibrant sides: heritage tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad, crisp seasonal greens, creamy coleslaw, and buttery new potatoes. Each table also featured charcuterie boards piled high with Italian cold cuts, fine cheeses, olives, artisan breads, and more for grazing.

By the time dessert—profiteroles and indulgent chocolate torte—made its way to the tables, it was clear the meal was a resounding success. Guests went back for seconds (and thirds!), and the glowing compliments poured in.

Amber and Mark’s wedding was proof that winter weddings have a charm all their own. If you’re planning your special day, let Hog Roast Ripon bring the flavour, warmth, and magic to your celebration—whatever the season!
