Here at Hog Roast Knottingley, we love a good wedding as much as the next person – if not more – and not just because they’re great for business!
The truth is, we can’t get enough of the romantic atmospheres, the unique love stories, and the personal touches that make these celebrations so unforgettable. And the fact we get to make sure everyone is treated to some glorious grub is just an added bonus. So, as you can probably tell, we were absolutely delighted when Amber and Jonathan asked us to cater for their special day.
From day dot, our catering manager, Jon, promised the happy couple an epic feast to match their rustic yet retro wedding theme – and as always, he delivered!
Choosing from our vast selection of pre-set wedding menu plans, the couple had settled on our Wedding Menu 2 for their big day, which traditionally offers one meaty main, one veggie/vegan dish and a few tasty sides. On this occasion, however, Amber and Jonathan were keen to have us serve two of our meat-free options, which gave their guests a bit more variety to choose from.
On the 9th of April, Amber, Jonathan and their 80 guests arrived to celebrate their marriage at the St Timothy C Of E Church in Sheffield, where Hog Roast Knottingley was already hard at work preparing the food for the reception.
Ahead of their arrival, our team expertly roasted a medium-sized pig on top of a layer of homemade sage and onion stuffing, which was later carved and served on real China plates with applesauce, Caesar salad, coleslaw, tomato and mozzarella salad and seasonal vegetables. For the veggie and vegan guests, Hog Roast Knottingley had whipped up grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers, as well as BBQ pulled jackfruit rolls.
To help cater to the guests’ needs and ensure everyone had a great time, Rachael, Penny, Kate and Daisy from our head office team joined Jon on the day. This helped to keep everything running smoothly, as Amber and Jonathan had also asked us to serve tea, coffee and drinks late into the night.
With lots to keep us busy, Hog Roast Knottingley didn’t end up leaving the party until midnight – but time certainly flew in! We were so pleased with how much the guests loved the food and our team had great fun watching as the group played retro board games and snapped pics on disposable cameras.
