Tucked away between Harrogate and York, right in the middle of some genuinely stunning North Yorkshire countryside, sits Skipbridge Country Weddings – a small, family-run venue that’s been turning big days into unforgettable ones since 2011. It’s the perfect spot for anyone who loves a bit of nature woven into their wedding, especially with donkeys, ponies, goats, pigs, alpacas, llamas, and a rather glamorous family of peacocks all wandering the grounds. It’s not your average wedding backdrop, and that’s what makes this place so special.

Hog Roast York could hardly believe our luck when our latest couple invited us to cater their wedding here, and we pulled out every stop to make sure the food lived up to the setting. That’s no small ask, mind you, given the magical tipi tent, the beautifully rustic decor, and the sheer energy from The Undercover Waiters, who very nearly had us up on our feet singing along. But we don’t shy away from a challenge, and we’re properly proud of how the day came together.
The couple went with our Southern Slow Roast Menu, and with 75 guests to feed, variety was always going to matter – this menu delivers exactly that, while still fitting the rustic atmosphere like a glove.

Hog Roast York’s team spent hours getting the spread just right, rustling up three main meat dishes – Texan-style pork butt, Cajun-spiced whole roast chickens, and Louisiana sticky pork ribs – which had been soaked in our secret recipe rubs before being cooked low and slow for hours to ensure maximum flavour. We also threw in sausages, burgers, and even a single portion of our prawn dish as extras, just to make sure every craving was covered. What came off that grill was properly fall-apart, mouth-watering deliciousness that tasted even better piled high on soft buns or wraps, with sauces ranging from smoky-sweet right through to properly fiery for anyone chasing the heat.
Veggies and vegans weren’t left out either – grilled vegetable kebabs, with optional halloumi and thick chunks of charred veg alongside tzatziki, went down an absolute treat. While mac and cheese, mixed fries, peas, and beans rounded things off nicely for everyone at the table.
We’re pleased to announce that by the end of the night, plates were empty and nobody hit the road with an empty belly.
Hog Roast York proved once again why we’re number one in the area – so if you’ve got a wedding on the horizon and need a caterer you can actually trust, get in touch today.
