With Valentine’s Day closing in, things are heating up at Hog Roast Horsforth – and we’re not just talking about our sizzling grills! Our calendar is packed with love-themed bookings, from intimate dinners to lively Love Day parties. Cupid’s got his arrows ready, and we’ve got our roasting spits turning!
But Valentine’s isn’t just for couples. It’s also peak season for singles hoping to meet their match before the big day. Swiping left and right has its limits, which is why match-making events are booming. Last weekend, we had the pleasure of catering for one such event – a singles mixer that ditched dating apps and brought love-seekers together in real life.
Held in a moody, speakeasy-style cocktail bar, this event was the place to be for singles looking to mingle. With 120 tickets selling out in no time, guests were eager to meet, chat, and maybe even find the one.
To help everyone ease into the evening, guests were welcomed with complimentary drinks – because let’s face it, nothing breaks the ice like a well-crafted cocktail. And speaking of breaking the ice, Hog Roast Horsforth made sure no one had to make small talk on an empty stomach!
Our catering manager, Jon, led the charge in crafting a sensational spread that had guests swooning (and not just over each other!). The night kicked off with an elegant selection of canapés – mini pizzas, dainty quiches, smoked Scottish salmon, chicken satay skewers, and a delicious Indian selection.
Once the mingling was well underway, it was time to roll out our legendary hog roast sandwiches. Soft, pillowy baps filled with succulent pulled pork, crispy crackling, sage-infused stuffing, and a sweet touch of applesauce. We also served a 50/50 mix of handmade British beef burgers and gourmet sausages, grilled veggie kebabs and a selection of fresh sides including Caesar salad, coleslaw, seasonal leaves, and buttery new potatoes.
With sparks flying and conversations flowing, dessert sealed the deal. Our profiteroles and creamy cheesecake were the ultimate crowd-pleasers, giving everyone a reason to linger a little longer.
By the end of the night, our hearts were as full as the guests’ bellies. We watched new friendships form, numbers get exchanged, and maybe – just maybe – the beginnings of some Valentine’s Day plans take shape. The client was thrilled with the night’s success, and Hog Roast Horsforth couldn’t be prouder of the role we played in making it happen.
