It’s hard to believe that we’re already another month down in 2022, but here we are – and we’re excited to share that, once again, Hog Roast Tockwith has a brilliant month ahead of us! But before we let our thoughts run wild with all of the excitement that is yet to come, we wanted to tell you about the fantastic start we had to the month!
Our fellow Yorkshire residents will know just how important the first day of August is. For close to five decades, this special day has been known to locals as Yorkshire Day. Initially, this annual holiday was observed by the Light Infantry following the battle of Minden, but it has since become a widespread celebration, which aims to promote Yorkshire culture, history and pride.
This year, Hog Roast Tockwith was hired to help David and Sharon with their Yorkshire Day party, which they throw each year for their family, friends and close neighbours. Though they usually handle the catering themselves, for this year’s celebration, David and Sharon had decided to treat their guests to a professionally-cooked spread, which is, of course, where our team came in.
On hand to help the couple to come up with a suitable spread for the occasion was our catering manager, Jon. Following his advice and recommendations, the couple had no trouble picking a delicious menu, which comprised of five tasty canapé options followed by homemade soup, a choice of either garlic and rosemary-seasoned spit-roasted whole English lamb with mint sauce and Yorkshire puddings or roasted sirloin of English beef with Yorkshire puddings and rich red wine gravy. The menu also included seasonal vegetables, buttered new potatoes and fresh, homemade salads. Fresh fruit salad and sticky toffee pudding were served as the dessert option.
Just as we had been hoping for, David, Sharon and their 65 guests were deeply impressed with the gorgeous selection that Hog Roast Tockwith prepared for the Yorkshire Day party! And for the clients, having our team to take care of the cooking on this occasion allowed them to enjoy the atmosphere of the event without having to constantly worry about making sure the guests were satisfied.
