It was Cecelia’s 60th birthday on Thursday, and to mark the occasion accordingly, her family had arranged for Hog Roast Barnsley to serve our beautiful BBQ banquet at the party they had put together as a surprise for the birthday girl.
The celebration was held in a rural spot that overlooked dense forests and emerald green hills, and, since the event took place outdoors to allow the guests to soak up the breathtaking scenery, Hog Roast Barnsley had also been asked to include our marquee as part of the catering package. We were, of course, more than happy to make this inclusion, and our team even arrived slightly earlier than normal on-site to make sure that everything was set up properly before the guests arrived.
While one-half of Hog Roast Barnsley’s caterers worked on putting up the marquee and setting up tables, chairs and party decorations inside, the rest of the team focused their attention on the food. Guided by catering manager Jon, they rustled up a stunning selection of gourmet BBQ meats, consisting of handmade British beef burgers, succulent chicken kebabs, BBQ meaty marinated spareribs and our secret recipe gourmet sausages. For the few veggies/vegans, who we were told would be attending, the team prepared BBQ pulled jackfruit rolls with a homemade vegan coleslaw, which paired perfectly with the inclusive salad and mixed fries that were the chosen sides on this occasion.
The guests arrived a little while before the food was ready, and Cecelia, who just thought she was going for a walk in the countryside with her husband, Gerry, followed soon after. When she saw her family, friends and the marquee on the hillside and Hog Roast Barnsley flipping the meats on the grill, the penny dropped, and she was lost for words. She couldn’t believe how much effort her family had gone to in order to make her birthday memorable!
Cecelia was the first to be given a plateful of the delicious food that Hog Roast Barnsley had spent all afternoon working on, and the rest of the guests formed an orderly queue behind her. With it being a birthday celebration, the family had commissioned a marvellous 3-tier chocolate cake from a local bakery, so once everyone had finished eating the main course, Jon did the honours of slicing and dressing the cake in fresh fruits and cream before serving it to each of the guests.
