It was an unseasonably warm day for the end of October and Spitting Pig Yorkshire had a Friday night booking for an engagement party in a picturesque back garden in the leafy village of Calverley, West Yorkshire. Caralina and Graham were the happy couple, together for fifteen years and with two small children their long engagement seemed to have given them the chance to amass a great many friends as the garden was packed with well-wishers of all ages.
As well as the hog roast Calverley suckling pig, fresh bread rolls and salads, Spitting Pig Yorkshire provided a selection of cakes and desserts which the couple’s sweet daughter Alice insisted on helping to serve to the other guests. Not all the younger guests were as well trained as Alice though – during Graham’s speech, with Spitting Pig Yorkshire primed for service directly after, her brother Alfie asked co-owner and chef Jon (very politely) whether he could have his hog roast Calverley sandwich before everyone else as it was after all really his party. Jon provided a sneaky piece of crackling and sent him on his way.
No rain, pretty countryside and a smooth and enjoyable evening for Spitting Pig Yorkshire as much as for the happy couple.
