Group sports, especially football, are great for promoting togetherness and creating a sense of community, which is what makes the events hosted by the Celebrity Charity Football Club so effective!
For years the not-for-profit organisation has worked hard to raise money and awareness for many different causes through their celebrity football matches, which often feature British sporting legends, reality TV personalities, and actors and actresses. Their efforts have certainly paid off, and to date, the Celebrity Charity Football Club has raised over £111,000 for some fantastic causes.
Knowing this made Hog Roast Leeds all the more proud to be able to work with the Bradford-based organisation last month at their event, which was held at the West Riding FA. This particular affair saw the Lawcris Tornadoes playoff against Supporting Charities FC in a bid to raise money for St Gemma’s Hospice. There was also a raffle, children’s entertainment and lots of activities arranged for after the match to keep the guests enthused.
We were, of course, delighted to see some famous faces, such as Emmerdale’s Jay Kontzle, Katie Hill and Jack Downham and Ex Leeds United players David Norris and Sanchez Payne, join in too, which ultimately boosted the community’s interest in the event. All in all, 200 people attended this fantastic occasion, and to make sure that no one suffered from a rumbling tum, the organiser, Lauren, had enlisted in Hog Roast Leeds services.
Catering manager Colin and the team were proud to serve our Menu 3 at this event, which offered the guests a choice of our chef’s own gourmet sausages, grilled chicken and vegetable skewers, or slow-simmered BBQ pulled jackfruit served on gluten-free rolls with vegan coleslaw. They also rustled up some gorgeous salad options and a batch of crispy golden fries to add more depth and flavour to the menu.
All those who attended were amazed by the food our Hog Roast Leeds crew presented them with, which made the day even more enjoyable for everyone involved! The variety available ensured that everyone had easy access to something that suited their dietary preferences, and with everyone feeling giddy and upbeat, the donations continued to flow all afternoon.
This event alone raised over £2,000 for a great cause, and Hog Roast Leeds couldn’t be more delighted to have been involved!
